Studio Signal Switchboard
The premiere starts soon, but every department is waiting for a different command. Build one event signal that tells the whole studio what to do!
🧠 Before we start
In Monster Maker, one object kept many labelled facts together. Today many objects will listen to one event. A broadcaster sends a signal; every subscribed listener reacts with its own job. Programmers call this publish–subscribe.
Plan the studio signal
Tap the three visual instruction blocks in the order an event system needs them.
Subscribe the film crew
Connect all three departments to ACTION, then broadcast once. One event should cause three different reactions.
EVENT: ACTION!
Unsubscribe before CUT
The stunt light must stay on for safety. Disconnect only Lights, then broadcast CUT. Camera and Sound should react; Lights should stay quiet.
Debug the crossed premiere wire
The APPLAUSE event reaches the wrong listener. Find the pulsing route, then reconnect it to the department that should react.
🌟 What you learned
- An event is a named signal that announces something happened.
- A subscriber listens for one event and reacts with its own job.
- One broadcast can notify many independent listeners.
- Unsubscribing safely stops one listener without changing the others.
- Debugging checks that each signal reaches the right listener.
