Circus Event Relay
One tiny spotlight tap can travel through the whole big top. Train the event relay so every circus listener hears the right signalβand knows when to stop.
π§ Before we start
In the coral grove, one shared path helped many words. Today, nested screen parts share an event path. A tap travels inward during capture, reaches its target, then travels outward during bubble.
Build the three-phase relay
Tap the phase cards in the order a screen event travels: from the outside inward, at the exact tapped part, then back outward.
Trace one spotlight tap
Tap the acrobat. Watch the signal pass Tent β Stage β Spotlight, hit the acrobat, then bubble back Spotlight β Stage β Tent.
Stop a runaway signal
The spotlight safety net should react, but the stage and tent must stay quiet. Choose where bubbling should stop, then test the stunt.
Let one ringmaster manage every prop
Instead of giving every prop its own helper, the parent prop table has one listener. Tap each prop; bubbling tells the ringmaster which child started the event.
π What you learned
- An event follows a path through nested screen parts.
- Capture travels from outer parts inward to the target.
- The target is the exact part where the event began.
- Bubble carries the event back through parent parts.
- Stopping propagation keeps unwanted parent listeners quiet.
- Event delegation lets one parent listener manage many child targets.
